“For You will not leave My soul in Hell, neither will You allow Your Holy One to experience bodily corruption in the grave.”
-Psalm 16:10
Christ is Risen! – The Women at the Tomb
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women arrived at the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.
And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They entered, but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
While they were wondering at this, two men stood beside them in garments of dazzling brightness. The women were afraid, and bowed their faces to the earth.
The men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.
Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.'”
They remembered His words, and returned from the tomb, and told these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.
It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, who told these things to the Apostles, but their words seemed to them like nonsense, and the Apostles did not believe them.
But Peter arose, and ran to the tomb, and bending down, he saw the linen cloths laying there, and went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
-Luke 24:1-12
Christ is Risen! – The Road to Emmaus
And two of them walked that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. They talked with each other about all the things that had happened.
While they spoke together, considering, Jesus Himself drew near, and walked with them. But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him. He asked them, “What are you discussing as you walk along, that is making you sad?”
One of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered, “Are you a stranger in Jerusalem, and do not know about the things that have happened there in these past days?” And He asked them, “What things?”
They answered, “Those things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.
The chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to be condemned to death, and have crucified Him.
But we trusted that it had been He who should have redeemed Israel; and besides all this, today is the third day since these things were done.
Yes, and certain women also of our company astonished us, who were early at the tomb. When they did not find His body, they returned saying they had seen a vision of angels, who told them Jesus was still alive.
Then some of those who were with us also went to the tomb, and found it even as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”
Then Jesus said to them, “How foolish you are, and slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into His glory?”
And beginning at Moses and the prophets, he explained to them from all the Scriptures, the things concerning Himself.
As they arrived near the village they were going to, they implored Him, saying, “Remain with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is nearly over.”
So He went in with them, and sat down to eat. Taking bread, He blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him, and He vanished from their sight.
They said to one another, “Did not our hearts burn within us, while He talked with us along the way, and while He opened to us the Scriptures?”
They arose that same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, along with those that were with them, saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon Peter.”
These they told what had happened on their way to Emmaus, and how Jesus was made known to them at the breaking of the bread.
As they were speaking, Jesus Himself stood in their midst, and said to them, “Peace be unto you.”
But they were frightened, terrified by the thought that they had seen a spirit.
Jesus said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts fill your minds? Behold My hands and feet, that it is I Myself. Touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
-Luke 24:13-39
Christ is Risen! – The Resurrection of Christ
“Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death. They shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him; and the third day He shall rise again.”
-Matthew 20:18-19 _____________________________________________________________
“And (to know) what is the exceeding greatness of His power to we who believe. In accordance with the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places.
Far above all principalities, and powers, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come…”
-Ephesians 1:19-21 _____________________________________________________________
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures; that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
After which, He was seen by Peter, and then by over five hundred brethren at the same time, of which the greater part are still alive, but some have fallen asleep. Again, after that, He was seen by James, then by all the Apostles.
And last of all He was seen by me also, as one born out of due time. For I am the least of the Apostles; not fit to be called an Apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.”

“If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
-Romans 10:9-10
“The monks asked Abba Agathon,
‘Among all of our different practices, which
requires the most effort?’
Monk Agathon answered,
‘I think that there is nothing more difficult
than praying to God.
For each time a person begins to pray, their
enemies, the demons, attempt to stop them;
for the demons know that nothing hinders
them as much as praying to God.
In everything else a person attempts,
if they don’t stop, they eventually receive
rest.
But to pray, a person must strive until their
very last breath.”
