ON The 9TH - eVeNiNG PRAYer: PSALM 45

(Words in Italics are quoted in the New Testament.).

(On the 9th – Evening Prayer: Psalm 45)

PSALM 45

Theme: The Wedding of Christ and His Bride

To the Director of Music: to the tune of “Lilies.”  A Maskil (Meditation) Psalm of the Sons of Korah.  A Wedding Love Song.

1 My heart overflows with wonderful words.  I recite the verses I have composed concerning the King.  My tongue is like the reed pen of a swiftly writing Scribe:

2  “You are fairer than the children of mankind.  Grace pours from Your lips.  God has blessed You forever.

3  Belt Your sword upon Your thigh, O Holy Mighty.  Reveal Yourself in all Your glory and majesty.

4  And in Your majesty ride victoriously; for truth, humility, and righteousness.  Your right hand shall perform awe inspiring deeds.

5  Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies.  The nations fall beneath Your feet.

6  Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: the sceptre of Your kingdom is a sceptre of justice.

7  You love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy, more than Your companions.  (Verses 6-7 are quoted in Hebrews 1:8-9)

8  All Your garments smell of myrrh, aloes, and cassia.  From palaces of  ivory, stringed instruments have made You glad.

9  Kings’ daughters are among Your maids of honor.  At Your right hand the Queen stands, adorned in gold from Ophir.

10  Listen, daughter; give me your full attention.  Forget the people you have come from, and your father’s household.

11  For the King greatly delights in Your beauty.  He is your Lord; worship Him.

12  The people of Tyre shall greet you with a gift.  Even the rich among them shall seek Your favor.

13  The glory of the King’s daughter dwells within her.  She is clothed in a robe fringed with tassels of wrought gold,

14  and embroidered with interwoven gold.  She, and the virgin companions who follow her, shall be brought before You.

15  With gladness and rejoicing, they shall be carried into the King’s palace.

16  Your children shall take the place of Your ancestors; You shall make them rulers over all the Earth.

17  They will make Your name to be remembered in all generations.  Your people shall praise You forever and ever.

The WeDDiNG Of CHRiST AND HiS BRiDE

(All believing Christians, in Heaven and on Earth, together comprise “The Bride of Christ.”  The new Jerusalem, the heavenly city spoken of in the Book of Revelation, will be the home of those redeemed by Christ.  Words of Christ in Bold.)

“…I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”  -2 Corinthians 11:2

________

And there came to me one of the seven angels…and talked with me, saying, “Come here: I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”

“And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God..”  –Revelation 21:9-10

________

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is now, and His wife has made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

And he said to me, ‘Write: Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’  And he said to me, ‘These are the true sayings of God.'”   -Revelation 19:7-9

__________

“And I saw a new Heaven and a new Earth: for the first Heaven and the first Earth had passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, descending from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

 And I heard a great voice out of Heaven saying, “Behold: the Tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people; and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying; neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away.

And He that sat upon the throne said, ‘Behold: I make all things new!’  And He said to me, ‘Write: for these words are true and faithful.’

And He said to me, “It is done.  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  I will give freely to those that thirst, from the fountain of the water of life.”  -Revelation 21:3-6

pHiLippiANS ON pRayER / the bOOK Of REVELAtiON ON WORSHip iN HEAVEN

Prayer:

“Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the Elders and Deacons:

Grace be with you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you, will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ:

Even as it is fitting for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart;

inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel, you all are partakers of God’s grace with me.

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

That you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense until the Day of Christ.

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”

-Philippians 1:1-1

Worship in Heaven:

“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no one could number, of all nations, and tribes, and peoples, and languages,

stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palm fronds were in their hands;

and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation is from our God, who sits upon the throne, and from the Lamb.’

And all the angels stood encircling the throne, and the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,

Saying, ‘Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be unto our God forever and ever.  Amen.'”

-Revelation 7:9-12

__________

And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense,

that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which stood before the throne.

And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God from the angel’s hand.”

-Revelation 8:1-4
